mast_head_7p-cmhJust the other day, 7P-CMH completed a flight that made her very happy. Over the past six months she has done several flights for a mother and her precious child. 7P-CMH hoped that this particular flight would be the last one.

Limpho (pronounced Dim po) is a baby girl who was born with a severe cleft lip. It was so extreme that it reached vertically up her right cheek, up to her eye. Her operation would not be a simple one—neither was getting the South African doctors to agree on where to start—Limpho’s lip or eye. Their indecision delayed the process and caused Hlalefang, the mother, to worry about her child even more. She wanted what was best for her daughter, so she could have a chance at a normal life.

The little Cessna 206 was glad she was able to help with some of those doctor visits, by taking Hlalefang and Limpho from their isolated mountain village of Bobete in the Thaba Tseka district of Lesotho to the capital of Maseru. And from there, the pair traveled the rest of the way by ambulance.

Finally, on April 8, 7P-CMH rejoiced to see mother and daughter approaching on the tarmac at Maseru. Ten months old now, Limpho’s face was bandaged and swollen, so CMH knew she had received the long-awaited life-changing surgery. The little airplane rejoiced that she was able to return mother and daughter home, where Limpho could continue to heal.

Every week, 7P-CMH travels into Lesotho’s mountains to retrieve patients and bring them to the capital city for further treatment, oftentimes saving a life—or in Limpho’s case, changing a life.

You can adopt this airplane through a one-time or monthly recurring gift. By partnering with MAF and 7P-CMH you will help change lives, like Limpho’s, and bring hope to Lesotho’s mountain communities.

MAF Adopt a Plane 7P-CMHMAF’s Cessna 206, 7P-CMH, was readied and took off quickly to the remote mountain village of Matsile in Lesotho to respond to a medical emergency call. As the plane landed on the dirt airstrip, the patient appeared—being carried on a makeshift stretcher, nothing more than a thin foam mattress stretched over tree limbs with the bark still on them.

The stretcher bearers reached CMH drenched in sweat, having hiked with the patient for over half an hour. A small group followed close behind out of concern for the woman. The crowd worked together to get the convulsing patient into the airplane.

As pilot Justin Honaker helped them transfer her to the aircraft stretcher, an elderly woman’s eyes caught his. He recognized her immediately—a heart attack patient whom he had flown several years ago. And there she was, healthy as ever!

He didn’t have a chance to greet her properly, however, as time was of the essence. But, as he was about to climb into his seat and prepare for takeoff, the woman grasped his hand.

“Do you remember me?” she said.

“I know exactly who you are, Mrs. Moloi,” Justin answered. She gave him a big smile and nodded to CMH as if to say, Now off you go, and get this one to the hospital too.

CMH was more than happy to comply. Because of your support, CMH is ready to help at a moment’s notice.

Please pray for CMH’s pilots and the many passengers who are sick or injured and in need of healing.

In December, a bus crashed while negotiating Lesotho’s treacherous mountain roads. 7P-CMH and two other MAF Cessna 206s answered the call to come to the remote community of Qacha’s Nek and transport the most critical patients to a better equipped facility.

Seven people were medevaced that day, most of whom suffered broken bones—five of the seven needed stretchers. 7P-CMH carried an 81-year-old woman with a broken femur; she was considered to be one of the more stable patients.

This was one of the more difficult flights that 7P-CMH has done; it’s hard to see someone in so much pain. Yet the little Cessna was glad to be able to help these people who live an impossible distance from the hospital … especially in the condition they were in.

A couple times a week, 7P-CMH flies to these remote villages to bring medical care to the people there. Sometimes she’s bringing a doctor or nurse to one of the small clinics; other times, she’s bringing people out who need more advanced treatment.

Either way, 7P-CMH couldn’t do it without you. She’s so glad you’ve adopted her. Thank you for making healing possible for those who were affected by this crash! Please keep them in your prayers as they recover from their injuries. Also, remember to pray for the pilots as they encounter difficult flights like these.

MAF airplanes, including 7P-CMH, responded to a Code-One call to medevac several teens who were struck by a car.
